Helping adults to improve their reading, writing and/or maths through ongoing support. As a volunteer, you will provide literacy learning support, tailored to the learning needs of adult individuals and groups. Our Literacy Coordinator will support you to plan and deliver lessons.
Help individuals or small groups to improve their everyday literacy and numeracy or those who want to learn English as a second or other language.
for parkrun - Recreation
Everyone is welcome to volunteer at parkrun events. We have heaps of fun, simple and rewarding opportunities to lend a hand for one to two hours on a Saturday morning at parkrun events across Australia. No training is required, roles are fully supported on the day and you can take part as often or as little as you would like. You can volunteer as a marshal, timekeeper, photographer or try your hand at scanning barcodes and handing out tokens…..to name a few of the roles we have available.
Key responsibilities We provide a home library service for community members who are unable to attend the library to select their own items. Home Library Service Couriers support this service by visiting clients in their homes to deliver and return bags of library items. Volunteers work as part of a team of staff and volunteers, and participate in activities under the direction and guidance of the local Volunteer Coordinator, or other nominated staff members. Program and services support volunteers are involved in various activities that enhance our programs and services. This may include, but is not limited to: information technology (IT) related programs and services client assistance, for example guiding customers with IT or researching family history children’s activities, for example supporting Rock and Rhyme and Storytime administration and organisation displays and events.

Reading Together volunteers will be part of the local school community in the Derwent Valley, Cygnet, Dover & Huonville areas and in 2024 will expand to the Northern Suburbs of Hobart in Southern Tasmania. Working with identified children, the volunteer will assist the children to improve their literacy skills through reading together and creating a safe and supportive environment.
