Including 1902 steam tug Waratah, 1902 VIP steam launch Lady Hopetoun, 1,000-passenger doublle ended ferry Kanangra and many historic vessels especially tall ship James Craig. We need your help to complete the restoration of ex-Moreton Bay pilot steamer John Oxley (760 tons) by joining our riveting team.

  2. Metal basher, welder/ boilermaker

    Sydney Heritage Fleet owns, restores and operates historic steam ships, sailing ships and many smaller launches. Our current major project is the restoration to full ocean-going condition of John Oxley a former Moreton Bay pilot steamer, 760 tons. You, the volunteer will be a skilled welder and steel fabricator to aid in the final stages of hull restoration, particularly the forecastle. Your team leader is gentle giant whose welding surpasses marine standard for boiler work.

    Sydney Heritage Fleet owns world-famous barque James Craig a fully rigged iron ship built 1874. From a rusted skeletal hulk in Recherche Bay Tasmania, she has been completely rebuilt by the volunteers at Sydney Heritage Fleet and now makes harbour and ocean voyages for the public often setting all of her 21 sails. Keeping her seaworthy needs constant attention , to paintwork, woodwork, rigging and deck caulking. We need you to join the happy team who carry out this work regularly on the ship.
