MDFA's Peer Support Groups provide a safe and welcoming space for people living with aged-related macular degeneration to share their stories and ask questions of their peers. The Facilitator role is well suited to someone with good communications skills and confidence in public speaking. Ideally you will have experience facilitating a support group and/or demonstrate the ability to lead a balanced discussion. Personal experience with macular disease is desirable, not necessary.
Want to help people living with vision loss? Macular degeneration is the leading cause of blindness in Australians and we are after someone to help run support groups for people living with macular degeneration! Group meetings are held at the Willagee Community Centre.

Patricia lives in a residential aged care home. She enjoys a good chat over a cup of tea. She is a delight to talk to and would appreciate your company as she doesn't receive many visits anymore.
Sirkka lives in a residential aged care home in High Wycombe. She still speaks English, but she would rather have a decent conversation in Finnish. If you were born in Finland and would like to befriend an older Finnish-speaking person, Sirkka would love to meet you.
