MDFA's Support Groups provide a safe and welcoming space for people living with aged-related macular degeneration to share their stories and ask questions of their peers. The Facilitator role is well suited to someone with good communications skills and confidence in public speaking. Ideally you will have experience facilitating a support group and/or demonstrate the ability to lead a balanced discussion. Personal experience with macular disease is desirable, not necessary.

The Macular Disease Foundation of Australia (MDFA) is the national peak body representing the macular disease community.  Our four pillars of work include:  prevention and early detection, supporting the community to live optimally with macular conditions, systemic advocacy and research.  There are an estimated 1.4m Australians with some evidence of age-related macular degeneration, which is the most common macular disease.

General Volunteers operate in departments within the hospital based on their experience and/or interest. The volunteers will carry out a range of activities designed to support patients and their visitors during their stay at the hospital.
