MDFA's Support Groups provide a safe and welcoming space for people living with aged-related macular degeneration to share their stories and ask questions of their peers. The Facilitator role is well suited to someone with good communications skills and confidence in public speaking. Ideally you will have experience facilitating a support group and/or demonstrate the ability to lead a balanced discussion. Personal experience with macular disease is desirable, not necessary.

Do you enjoy connecting and helping people? With our ongoing redevelopments, it is sometimes intimidating for our visitors to find where they need to go within the hospital or to offsite outpatient clinic locations. Our Guiding Volunteers provide visitors with practical assistance helping alleviate those feelings of being overwhelmed and stressed helping them to get to their appointment on time or find a friend or relative.
Do you have a friendly and caring manner? Like working in a fast-paced environment? Join our ED Volunteer Team to help reduce patients, their families, and carers' anxiety while they are in the ED waiting room for treatment.
Help us make a difference... We are looking for ten new volunteers to provide beverages and social support to patients who are waiting to attend appointments at the Wellington clinics.

No training is required, roles are fully supported on the day and you can take part as often or as little as you would like. You can volunteer as a marshal, timekeeper, photographer or try your hand at scanning barcodes and handing out tokens…..to name a few of the roles we have available.
