The role of the JP volunteer is to provide Justice of the Peace services up to two (2) days a week for 2-3 hours each session at Canberra Hospital in Garran. The role of a JP volunteer plays an important role in the hospital system and provides a valuable and accessible service to all members of the public. Abbeyfield Garran is a not for profit which provides affordable, inclusive, homelike and safe accommodation for people with a mild cognitive disability where residents can maintain their independence with dignity and choice. The Garran house is run by a volunteer management committee and employs a housekeeper to provide meals and support the residents on a day- to-day basis. We have 10 young adult residents.

Any volunteer mechanics who would like to help us fix cars and train disadvantaged people in the skills to maintain a car would be appreciated. We have a car program where our program participants earn the chance to buy a fixed up car so they can undertake meaningful employment in the future.
