Abbeyfield Garran is a not for profit which provides affordable, inclusive, homelike and safe accommodation for people with a mild cognitive disability where residents can maintain their independence with dignity and choice. The Garran house is run by a volunteer management committee and employs a housekeeper to provide meals and support the residents on a day- to-day basis. We have 10 young adult residents.

ACT Wildlife rehabilitates injured, sick and orphaned native animals to return them to the wild. Our interface with the public is our 24/7 phone. The day is broken into several shifts and you would be required to have our phone diverted to yours for a shift a week, a fortnight or month, depending on your availability. The Regional Lead is responsible for the Regional Operations Team (ROT) but will be provided with support and assistance from the International Operations Team. The Regional Leads will be invited to participate on the IPT calls on a monthly basis to maintain communications between the IOT and ROT’s. Support from the various IOT teams i.e. volunteer management, marketing and communications will be provided as required. Regional Leads will also be able to access Operations Support.

ACVVS volunteers will provide regular friendship and companionship to socially isolated aged care recipients through one-on-one or group in-person visits. To ensure the best experience for all involved, volunteers will receive training and support from our Volunteer and Engagement Coordinator throughout the program.
