The house is run by a volunteer management committee and employs a full time live in housekeeper and two casual staff to cover the weekend roster. Abbeyfield Garran is a not for profit which provides affordable, inclusive, homelike and safe accommodation for people with a mild cognitive disability where residents can maintain their independence with dignity and choice. The Garran house is run by a volunteer management committee and employs a housekeeper to provide meals and support the residents on a day- to-day basis. We have 10 young adult residents.

ACT Wildlife rehabilitates injured, sick and orphaned native animals to return them to the wild. Our interface with the public is our 24/7 phone. The day is broken into several shifts and you would be required to have our phone diverted to yours for a shift a week, a fortnight or month, depending on your availability. You will be working from home and have access to our online database to record calls.

Native animals are often in need of a helping hand following accidents with cars, pets, windows, people and other native animals. ACT Wildlife has trained wildlife carers to care for these animals but with increasing habitat loss and suburban expansion our job is ever increasing.

ACVVS volunteers will provide regular friendship and companionship to socially isolated aged care recipients through one-on-one or group in-person visits. To ensure the best experience for all involved, volunteers will receive training and support from our Volunteer and Engagement Coordinator throughout the program.
