About St Joseph's Outreach Services

St Joseph’s Outreach Services (SJOS) provides transitional housing and support services to the homeless and disadvantaged in our community. Our three pillars of outreach provide shelter, opportunity and support.
SJOS is an incorporated not-for-profit association. We are not government funded and rely solely on fundraising, donations and philanthropic support from the community.
Our keys services include:
- Transitional Housing
- FoodBank & 24/7 BreadBank
- Enablement through counselling, life skills workshops and computer access
Our 12 transitional units and family crisis shelter are managed by HomeGround Services. Importantly, our services are underpinned by a dedicated volunteer base of over 50 people from our parish and the wider community, who embrace our “I can do that” philosophy, and a focused effort on what really matters. Our volunteers assist with cleaning, meet-and-greet, foodbank and other services.
We support more than 1,200 families per year and countless patrons of the FoodBank, 24/7 BreadBank, library and outdoor area.
SJOS’s doors are always open to welcome and provide support and opportunity to anyone seeking to use our facilities, including the library, computers and internet. We also provide support through counselling, life skills workshops, and in the form of referrals and computer access to aid those seeking employment.
