Shalom (House of Peace) Inc

Shalom Inc is a crisis accommodation service for homeless men. We provide nightly shelter from 5.30pm until 8.30. The house contains a bed room which sleeps five men and a lounge, kitchen, dining area, and a laundry and bathroom facilities. Our service also includes Dinner and Breakfast and a packed lunch. Originally the vision was to provide a drop in centre and daily educational/training and self-improvement sessions for homeless men. This is still an aim but the immediate need for crisis accommodation arose and Shalom Inc. decided to take on the challenge.
Volunteers are needed to provide supervision for the homeless men while they are in the house. This supervision may also include some mentoring, providing companionship and 'someone to talk to', and eating meals with the residents. Volunteers will be able to sleep in a separate room during the night of their shift.
