About Koala Kids Foundation

Koala Kids Foundation provides the small things that make a difference to the lives of the 1,700 children and young people in cancer treatment in Victoria and their families.
Koala Kids was founded in 2005 and operated as a volunteer-driven program of Koala Foundation and then Children's Cancer Foundation until 1 October, 2015 when it became an independent charity and commenced operation as
Koala Kids Foundation.
Koala Kids Foundation remains committed to providing quality educational and entertaining activities and consumables to distract and engage children and young people to age 25 years with cancer from the pain associated with the cancer journey and to keep early learning, primary, secondary and tertiary students connected with their education.
Koala Kids provides resources and activities to Children's Cancer Centres at The Royal Children's Hospital and Monash Children's Hospital and to the Paediatric Radiotherapy Services and Adolescent and Young Adult Service at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. It also provides each of the nine hospitals in regional facilities with therapeutic consumables similar to those used in the metropolitan cancer centres for children and young people able to have their cancer treatment and consultations closer to home around Victoria.
Koala Kids has minimal administrative costs, operates from rent-free office and warehouse space and sources all of its consumables and programs in kind, at cost or heavily discounted. All its services (legal, accounting, IT, administrative, marketing etc) are provided pro bono or by experienced (professional) volunteers and it does not duplicate any programs or activities provided by other charities for children with cancer.
