About Questacon Volunteer Explainer

Questacon, the National Science and Technology Centre. At Questacon, we strive to promote greater understanding and awareness of science and technology within the community. We're committed to making that experience fun, interactive, and relevant.

Do you have what it takes to be a Volunteer?

Volunteers encourage visitors to get the most out of their visit to Questacon. Activities range from telling a young child which button to push, to communicating complex science to older visitors.

We love that our Volunteers are passionate about science and technology and want to share this with our visitors. We want our Volunteers to inspire our visitors to be as enthusiastic about science and technology as they are.

Questacon attracts people of all ages and backgrounds so you will need to be confident communicating with people from a broad cross-section of the community. You will also need to be patient and be prepared for unusual questions.

A rewarding time

Volunteers receive thorough ongoing training and apart from the reward of smiling faces, you also get a $10 travel reimbursement for each day you come in, as well as discounts at the Questacon Café and the Questacon Shop.

Volunteers can work up to 16 hours per week and, because we are open 7 days a week, we are able to offer flexible working hours.

We are now accepting expressions of interest for volunteers in 2022 and will email interested applicants with details of the next volunteer information sessions.
