The Queen Elizabeth Hospital provides health services by means of inpatient, outpatient and emergency services using the most modern available methods of assessment and treatment in medical, surgical, mental health, allied health and other techniques. Emphasis is placed on continuity of care before and after hospitalisation and care is coordinated by a multidisciplinary team.

In addition to the main hospital services, The Queen Elizabeth Hospital provides community based services which includes Mental Health Services and the Pregnancy Advisory Centre. Diabetic House is located in a nearby hospital owned home and a satellite renal dialysis centre is located at Wayville.

TQEH is one of South Australia's leading acute referral, teaching and research centres affiliated with the University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia with professorial chairs in Surgery, Medicine, Renal, Gastoenterology, Anaesthesia and Cardiology.

The hospital is widely recognised for its achievements in such areas as renal medicine, cardiology, haematology/oncology, invitro fertilisation and surgery.
