About The Lions Club of the City of Adelaide Inc.

Our Lions Club is made up of members, male and female, between early 20s and mid-90s. We are a very versatile and hands on club. We have a range of projects and activities that our members are involved in, depending on their particular interests and availability. Members give the time they can, but we promote family first, then work, then Lions.

We do everything from feeding the homeless, delivering blankets to Adelaide shelters and charities, encourage and promote youth literacy, support patients in hospital, fundraise for various charities, and we cook a lot of barbecues. You can find out more about our projects on our website: www.adelaidecitylions.org.au and www.hearmeroarproject.com.au.

We are usually quite busy, but have our quiet weeks/months too. We love to hear new ideas and run projects that our members are interested in. We work hard but we have a lot of fun and make friends while we do it. We only ask members to give the time they can, there’s no minimum requirement. We have some members who get involved in a lot of the projects, others prefer to just fundraise with BBQs, and others we’ll only see every few months depending on work/study commitments. It all comes down to your personal situation especially with work/study and family.

We have a dinner meeting once a month (first Monday) at Rydges Adelaide (in the Skyline Restaurant on level 6) where we invite guest speakers, members find out what’s happening with projects and events, and it’s a general social get together; a great way to get to know other members. We also communicate a lot by email. Of course we have social media pages accounts too.

We are a very inclusive club, all ages, different cultures, we’re family orientated (some of our members bring their children and grandchildren along to meetings and social events), everyone with an interest in helping others and the community is more than welcome, and we love new ideas.
We are all 100% volunteers and all money raised from the public and our events etc. goes back into our projects and donations to other organisations/charities.
