About Type 1 Diabetes Family Centre

Responding to the compelling need for better support for children and families living with type 1 diabetes, the Type 1 Diabetes Family Centre launched in July 2015. Located in Stirling Western Australia, the award-winning, Australia-first service is dedicated to connecting, supporting and inspiring people with type 1, and the people who care about them.

In July 2018, we once again responded to an unmet need in the type 1 community, expanding our services and programs to include young adults and adults living with type 1 diabetes, providing lifelong support for a lifelong disease.

Our innovative model of care integrates community-based clinical care and wraparound peer and psychosocial support connecting hundreds of families impacted by an unrelenting, complex and life-threatening chronic disease, to face its challenges with confidence.

We offer dietetics, diabetes education and psychology services alongside a dynamic program of community events, camps, information workshops, training for schools and babysitter, online education programs and online peer support groups with over 10,000 engagements every month.

In four years, the Family Centre has connected over 1400 families impacted by type 1 diabetes, changing their health trajectories through targeted support and our reach and our impact is rapidly growing.
