About Rights Information & Advocacy Centre Inc | RIAC

RIAC began its work in 1984. We empower communities across 22 local government areas, spanning throughout Regional Victoria and Southern New South Wales. We work with a range of diverse communities including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Communities, LGBTIQA+, financially and socially disadvantaged, older Australians, and those living in remote and rural communities.

Through our work and collaborative partnerships, we identify systemic issues to make a more inclusive community through changes to legislation, policies and practices to ensure the human rights and interests of people with a disability are upheld. We are part of the National Disability Advocacy Programme (NDAP) funded by the Australian Government.

RIAC is a community based organisation that provides free advocacy assistance to eligible clients and their carers, living in the City of Greater Geelong and the Borough of Queenscliff. RIAC assist people with disabilities to gain access to and participate in community life and to achieve and maintain their rights as citizens, involving their families wherever possible.
