Mentoring aims to connect young people by matching them on a one-to-one basis with a carefully screened and trained adult mentor. The mentors and mentees will meet regularly for a minimum of 12 months in order to attain positive youth development outcomes. Experience suggests that these matches become fully fledged and genuine friendships that last well after their involvement with our mentoring program.
Our young people are creative and fun to hang out with and by spending time with a positive role model it will expand their life skills and show them new opportunities ahead. Simple catch ups like kicking the footy, going to the park or the beach and baking a cake is all it takes. TRY Australia matches mentors and young people on the basis of shared interests and location and will be supported through regular supervision, training and support.
