About Samarinda Ashburton Aged Services (SAAS)
Samarinda Ashburton Aged Services (SAAS) supports older and disabled people in the local community to maintain active, socially connected lives through a number of initiatives.
SAAS follows the government's Home and Community Care (HACC) standards and Active Service Model. This means that our staff and volunteers encourage older people to remain active, socially connected and independent. Making their own decisions, maintaining and developing their skills, keeping active, all helps us all to have the very best quality of life we can have. Active ageing helps us to stay in our own homes for as long as possible.
Samarinda's Social Support program, based in Ashburton, provides a range of services and programs including Meals on Wheels for mature aged people and people with a disability to live rich independent and socially connected lives in the community.
Elsie Salter House, in Ashburton, is a dementia-specific day respite centre, with support provided onsite enabling carers some respite from their caring supportive role.
The Samarinda Residential Lodge is a permanent and respite accommodation and support facility enabling up to 92 people to live in a comfortable supported accommodation setting when living independently is no longer a suitable option for them.
The Ashy Opportunity Shop is located in Ashburton and trades 7 days a week. Funds raised support all services provided by Samarinda Ashburton.
