About Sapphire Community Projects Inc
Our charity runs a number of activities. Our major one is Sapphire Community Pantry, located in Bega, NSW.
The Pantry is a non-denominational, not for profit organisation whose purpose is to nourish the community and divert good food and groceries from landfill. We have groceries, fresh fruit and vegetables, and free bread. We also offer a place to sit down, have a chat and a cuppa.
No “proof of need” is required of shoppers. We charge on a cost-recovery basis, so prices are very, very low, just enough to cover our costs of running.
Our other activities include Ricky's Place, which is a free/pay what you can cafe; cooking groups; community garden; mobile pantry; and auspicing local groups.We also run cooking groups, bringing people together for a fun learning experience - and they are free.
