About FACS – Youth Frontiers Mentoring Program

The Youth Frontiers mentoring program is a NSW Government initiative that was launched in 2015 and has been delivered throughout NSW each year since. Within this period, the program provided mentoring to more than 3500 young people in years 8 and 9.

Youth Frontiers aims to establish and support quality mentoring relationships that in turn increase opportunities for young people’s active and meaningful participation in their communities. The program matches adult volunteer mentors with a young person in their community (aged 12-15) to provide 35 hours quality mentoring (including 10 hours one-to-one mentoring).

The program targets young people with the capacity to benefit from mentoring that focuses on leadership and community engagement. It gives mentees an opportunity to build life skills and self-confidence by working collaboratively with their mentors on a project that makes a positive difference in their community.
