Bunker Cartoon Gallery

About Bunker Cartoon Gallery

The Gallery is housed in a WWII bunker. In 1985 the Coffs Harbour City Rotary Club started a national competition for black & white cartoons - this provided the basis for a major collection. John Champion became aware of the disused bunker laying derelict and perceived the idea of redeveloping the bunker as a permanent home for the cartoon collection. At present there are approx. 23,000 cartoons housed in the bunker. Visiting exhibitions, such as the recent Phantom Exhibition and the Bald Archy's are displayed throughout the year.
