About Health Issues Centre

We work with health consumers and health services on consumer participation skills. Our primary initiative is our Consumer Step Up (CSU) program which trains consumers with the skills they require to participate in committees and other governance roles within the health system. We also ran forums for consumers and health professionals during the financial year. We made information about participation in health available through our website, our journal, through newsletters and organising information sessions with consumers. We worked to ensure that the voices of consumers who are disadvantaged in their use of health services are represented in service improvements so health services better meet their needs. . We worked on developing resources and tools that will enable consumers to prepare their own Advanced Care Plans. We worked with chronic illness consumer organisations to upskill their members on peer group leadership.
