Parent Aide Unit

South Brisbane, QLD Family Services

About Parent Aide Unit

Parent Aides are volunteers who assist families experiencing difficulties in early parenting by visiting parents at home on a weekly basis, supporting parent's efforts to 'bond' with and develop positive relationships with their young children as well as helping parents to understand their child's developmental needs by offering suggestions, parenting tips and most importantly, encouragement. Volunteers require good parenting experience, an understanding of the demands involved in parenting babies, an empathic, caring and non judgemental manner and a weekly commitment to visit referred family. Volunteers are well supported by trained professionals and receive training and ongoing professional development opportunities which enhance the role.
