The ensure that our transport program runs smoothly and on time through radio communications. Footprints Brisbane aims to support the old who are socially isolated or at risk of social isolation by providing visit to older people residing in Australian Government Residential Aged Care Facilities and/or one-on-one visits to recipients of Footprints in Brisbane (Footprints) Home Care Packages (HCP). We are looking for volunteer visitors that will provide friendship and companionship for at least one hour per fortnight.

The Caring Neighbourhood Program provides social opportunities that are based on companionship and friendship to enable people who are socially isolated through ageing or degenerative conditions to make meaningful connections within their local community. Individual Support volunteers provide one on one friendship & support to people over 65 who are isolated or alone living in their own homes.

Your compassion and caring nature will be greatly appreciated by the elderly residents of a local aged care facility as you assist them on short outings (1-2 hours) on the minibus. Outings might include a drive-thru coffee or picking up an ice-cream. You will assist a member of staff who will look after the residents' care needs. A staff member will drive the bus. Ideally, you'll be available on a weekday morning or afternoon, weekly or fortnightly, for 6 - 12 months (or longer).

We are looking for volunteers who enjoy sitting and engaging with our Clubwork participants and helping them with craft activities, playing musical instruments, singing, cooking, conversation, outings and driving 12 seater bus.

Your compassion, patience and understanding of the elderly will be of great value in this role supporting the Coordinator. You'll be available at times when the client requests support. Types of support include picking up the client in your vehicle to take them shopping. You'll assist with the shopping & may be required to help with loading & unloading. You may also be asked to transport the client to medical appointments & social support functions. National Criminal check required.

TransitCare is dedicated to assisting our clients to remain active and live independently by providing transport and social support for people with disabilities; and older members of our community.
