About Wickham Community Projects

The Wickham Community Projects’ main aims and objectives are to develop micro-industries in Wickham, Western Australia.
These will include a Design and Technology workshop (producing everything from furniture & giftware to traditional artifacts), Creative Arts Studio & Gallery, Op Shop, Yarning Circle, Bicycle workshop and Community Gardens as well as providing food for local people by cooking workshops and other life skills training.
WCP will provide opportunities to change the social determinants for local marginalised residents including members of the various Pilbara Language Groups, through a coaching and mentoring program for men, women and children who suffer from any form of addiction, poverty, homelessness, alcoholism and any other life dominating behaviours to assist them in escaping dysfunction and facilitating pathways for empowerment and positive change. Located right in the heart of the Housing Area of Wickham, WCP will provide a beacon of hope and opportunity for change.
It is envisaged that once fully operational, this facility will develop an income for the people who engage & participate in the projects, who will sell their works on consignment (with a very low nominal rate going to WCPI). This will develop self-sustainability whilst helping people gain valuable skills, which can then be transferred to life and other existing employment & vocational pathways.
