About this opportunity
Social support volunteering is a great way to help make a real difference in people’s lives by helping them re connect, socialise and feel valued. Our volunteers are matched to service users with common interests/personality or background and meet with them each week or fortnight. The visits are intended to be relaxed and social in nature and may include listening to music together, playing cards/board games, reminiscing or simply having a chat.
You must have a genuine empathy for and understanding of older people, be positive and willing to learn as well as the ability to communicate with people from a variety of backgrounds. As a requirement of this role volunteers must undergo a National Police Check which is arranged and covered by Cumberland Council. If you would love to help people to connect with their community, this might be the opportunity for you!
