General Volunteers operate in departments within the hospital based on their experience and/or interest. The volunteers will carry out a range of activities designed to support patients and their visitors during their stay at the hospital. A volunteer has the opportunity to have a more ongoing interaction with a particular ward or clinical service

A General Front of House Volunteer will be required to meet, greet and give directions or escort if required, visitors and patients to their destination in the hospital. You will at times be required to approach and assist people who may be unsure of where they are going. Other duties include assisting with transport enquiries and general tidying of reception area.

Meet and Greet Volunteers provide patients with directions on how to find services within the hospital and escort the patients to the area they need to go if necessary. Volunteers must have a friendly disposition, good communication skills, desire to help others and be fit and active enough to be able to push patients in a wheelchair.
