We believe that every patient deserves to feel supported and cared for during their healthcare journey. Hollywood Hospital seeking volunteers to provide 1:1 companionship to patients, company and support to patients when their meals are delivered on the ward, and support in some of our activity groups and therapy sessions.

General Volunteers operate in departments within the hospital based on their experience and/or interest. The volunteers will carry out a range of activities designed to support patients and their visitors during their stay at the hospital. A volunteer has the opportunity to have a more ongoing interaction with a particular ward or clinical service

The group of volunteers, called 'The Friends' are like minded people of all ages and backgrounds who "like to help". Friendships are formed. Often it is found all that is needed is a sympathetic ear and words of encouragement and cheer. To allay the apprehension of those who find strangeness and loneliness in their new hospital surroundings, the volunteers visit inpatients, escort new patients and visitors to appointments, provide comfort, always with a kind word or gesture and good cheer.

Peer support groups connect people within a safe space empowering them to take control of their health and wellbeing. We are seeking people with lived experience of neurological conditions to train and act as voluntary peer support group leaders in selected metro and regional areas or within your local community.

You will also help develop and coordinate training, in addition to this. Willing and able to complete general office duties, 1-2 days per week.

The co-facilitator for the Let's Taco About It Pain Support Group must be aged between 18 & 25, live with chronic pain and be comfortable connecting with other young people online. The Tacos is a safe space for young people, helping participants to share their experiences of living with chronic pain, promoting self-management techniques, reducing isolation and assisting with health system navigation.
