HBF Run for a Reason: Sunday 19 May 2024 - Volunteers Needed Cancer Council WA is once again listed as a proud Hero Charity for Perth's biggest annual fitness challenge. We are seeking volunteers to assist at our Aid Station, ensuring participants stay hydrated for the day while they run or walk their way to the finish line.

Cancer Council WA is seeking volunteers with a sensitive and caring nature to provide support and assistance to cancer patients with the temporary management of hair loss associated with cancer treatment. Volunteers assist clients to select, fit and care for headwear that they feel most comfortable with.

We are seeking several volunteers to help patients with directions, provide information on the many Cancer Council supportive care services available and to provide a listening ear when needed..

Breastfeeding counsellors are trained volunteers who offer breastfeeding information and mother-to-mother support to women whose babies are breastfeeding and to their families. Their area of expertise is breastfeeding support. The counsellors have to have breastfed at least one baby for a minimum of 6 months and hold a current Certificate IV in Breastfeeding Education (Counselling) (or equivalent) and have to complete ongoing training to up d ate their knowledge and skills.

We are looking for a beauty therapist of any kind to assist in giving seniors a special pampering session with facials, haircuts or manicures

MDFA's Peer Support Groups provide a safe and welcoming space for people living with aged-related macular degeneration to share their stories and ask questions of their peers. The Peer Support Facilitator role is well suited to someone with good communications skills and confidence in public speaking. Ideally you will have experience facilitating a peer support group and/or demonstrate the ability to lead a balanced discussion.

We require volunteers to offer arts and crafts to patients and their families.

The group of volunteers, called 'The Friends' are like minded people of all ages and backgrounds who "like to help". Friendships are formed. Often it is found all that is needed is a sympathetic ear and words of encouragement and cheer. To allay the apprehension of those who find strangeness and loneliness in their new hospital surroundings, the volunteers visit inpatients, escort new patients and visitors to appointments, provide comfort, always with a kind word or gesture and good cheer.

The Ellenbrook Mile promotes mental and physical wellbeing in the Ellenbrook and surrounds area. We are seeking Information Officers for our quirky kiosk in Ellenbrook Shopping Centre. You will be helping enquirers get connected to local services who are seeking information on local NFP, services or clubs. We love people with creative ideas to engage others. Tins are hosted by businesses throughout the Perth metropolitan area to seek donations from customers frequenting the business.

The Voluntary Transport team is a lifeline for patients who have no other way of getting to our hospital. Our team picks up and drops off patients at Royal Perth Hospital. We also help patients to get from the Voluntary Transport vehicle to their appointment in the hospital building. We are always looking for new volunteers. This research project is aiming to enhance the hospital environment to help patients with aphasia communicate and recover after a stroke.

Would you like to meet many different people, help those who are sometimes stressed, use your communication skills, become completely familiar with Hollywood hospital, experience variety in your day? ‘Front of House’ volunteers are required at the hospital to meet and greet visitors and patients; to escort visitors to their destinations; to assist staff at main reception as required; to provide companionship to those waiting in the lobby area etc.
