for Children's Hospital Foundation - Community Services
Inpatient Orientation volunteers provide caregivers with knowledge and support for their hospital stay. It can be overwhelming as a caregiver of an inpatient dealing with the stress of a sick and injured child. As a Inpatient Orientation volunteer you will be able to ease the stress by informing caregivers of services and support networks available to make their stay as supported as possible.
As an Operating Theatre Recovery volunteer, you will work closely with staff to support the post-anaesthetic care of patients by providing comfort, as well as reconnecting and regulating caregiver visits. Volunteers also support the Queensland Children’s Hospital Recovery staff by answering the phones and maintaining comfort supplies.
Provide support to parents and carers entering the operating suites at the Queensland Children’s Hospital. Volunteers help ease the anxiety of a child’s surgical journey by working closely with medical staff to provide information and emotional support to parents and carers.
