The Collie SES Unit are seeking new volunteers to work behind the scenes & assist the front-line crews. Support members are essential to the operation of unit activities by assisting & supporting operations from the unit or non-frontline locations. St John's Phone Coordinators work as part of a rostered team. While on shift, Phone Coordinators are responsible for dispatching the local volunteer ambulance crew as required. Phone Coordinators do not take 000 calls, but are contacted by the central St John's Communications Team with relevant information for incidents.

When a natural disaster strikes or an emergency situation arises, DFES’s State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers can be found providing a wide range of volunteer services to help the community cope from the impact a disaster. This involves providing emergency repairs on buildings, to restoration of essential services and ferrying cargo and passengers across flood waters. Helping the community to recover by responding to natural disasters is only part of SES’ responsibility.

The SES Mandurah are looking for young people to join their youth cadet program to have fun with other young people in the community, while also developing new skills and participating in exciting training opportunities.

While the primary role of the SES is to respond to incidents involving floods and storms, it also provides crucial support and assistance to other emergency service organisations. SES is open to men and women with a reasonable degree of physical fitness and a passion to get involved within their community. Helping in natural and man-made emergencies. Undertake roles such as: - cyclone and flood response - land search and rescue - air search observation - cliff/cave rescue - storm damage relief - communications - management of Emergency Coordination Centre Training is Wednesday evenings at the Unit on Hamilton St from 7.00pm to around 9.30pm. No training on the 2nd Wednesday of the month as there is a committee meeting. Volunteers need to wear boots and protective clothing while on probation
