Volunteer Marine Rescue members serve their respective communities on a voluntary basis by undertaking both operational and non-operational roles. VMRS groups work in close liaison with the Western Australia Police, coordinating and performing a range of marine rescue activities for the WA community. The Darling Range Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade Communications work at the control centre of a fire or search manning the radios, tracking firies, mapping fire shapes, and providing specialised support to the Incident Management Team (IMT).

When a natural disaster strikes or an emergency situation arises, DFES’s State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers can be found providing a wide range of volunteer services to help the community cope from the impact a disaster. This involves providing emergency repairs on buildings, to restoration of essential services and ferrying cargo and passengers across flood waters. Helping the community to recover by responding to natural disasters is only part of SES’ responsibility.

Albany Sea Rescue are looking for volunteers to operate a 2 way radio and computer to talk to mariners who call in when going fishing. They operate 24 hours/7 days per week, with 3 shifts per day. Training will be provided. Will need to sit and pass a National Radio Competency exam.
