  1. Urgent need for Community Visitors

    Community Visitors uphold the Human Rights of people living in supported care. They visit accommodation facilities and monitor and report on the adequacy of services provided. This role is ideally suited to individuals who are able to visit during day-time hours or late afternoons and who can make a commitment of two years. Training will be provided to support you in the role.

    Do you have lived experience of disability, experience supporting people with disability, or a background in the disability sector? The Inclusive Volunteering Pathways to Employment Program is led by a group of organisations in the ACT, New South Wales and Tasmania, who are working to reduce and remove barriers to volunteering and employment for people living with disability or mental health conditions. The Program supports participants to engage in volunteering as a pathway to employment.

  3. Walking volunteer

    CAWS Together We Can have several participants with mild intellectual or psychosocial/mental health disabilities in various locations throughout Western Sydney who would love to go on walks with other people and maybe go for a coffee afterwards. Some of them have trouble going on public transport alone so could benefit from someone to go on the train or bus with them or from a lift (we can reimburse your travel, 80c per kilometre).

    Community Visitors visit Victorian accommodation facilities for people with disability or mental illness in their local area. They monitor and report on the adequacy of the services provided and, where possible, communicate with residents or patients to ensure they are being treated with dignity and respect. Community Visitors are Victorian Governor in Council appointees, are appointed for a three-year term, and have significant powers of entry and inspection.
