This is a great position for someone with a love of horses. The volunteer would assist with the handling of the horse and the rider.

RDA Harvey are a charity providing therapeutic interactions with horses for people with a wide range of disabilities. If working with horses is your thing, then our highly qualified coach will train you, otherwise there are many other positions available to help with the running our organisation. Guide and Assistance Dogs change lives. It is the independence and freedom offered by these dogs to our clients that keeps us going. Guide Dog Formal Boarding is part of our wider training program that provides some of the very first homes for our future Guide, Autism Assistance, Facility or Therapy Dogs in training. Our Temporary Boarders provide a short-term foster home and training on an adhoc basis, to cover holidays, illness or emergencies.

We urgently need people who have the patience to get to know and understand each of our horses and become be a horse leader and assist with all aspects of horse and rider care.

Side walking - No experience necessary. Walking beside horse, supporting clients with disabilities as they ride, making sure they stay safely seated on the horse in accordance with RDAA policies. Leading horses - Volunteers with horse management experience to groom and generally prepare horses for our riding sessions with disabled clients, then to safely lead horses in accordance with RDAA safety policies.

Volunteer required to clean and maintain client and volunteer amenities.

General duties as required including clearing the paddocks of manure, cleaning the track etc.

Volunteer required to maintain grounds, paddocks and equipment.

A safety critical role that requires aptitude and training but can provide great satisfaction. We will assess knowledge of the applicant and supply training if necessary.

Grooming and tacking of horses. Leading a horse with a rider in a lesson. Side walking a rider during a lesson. Assisting coach set up poles, barrels, cones.

Volunteer needed to drive a horse float, using own suitable vehicle. Person needs to be confident and experienced with horses.

Guide and Assistance Dogs change lives. It is the independence and freedom offered by these dogs to our clients that keeps us going. Our Puppy Raisers look after an 8 to 10 week old puppy, in their home, for a period of 6 to 12 months This requires a degree of physical fitness, which includes being able to negotiate steps, walk 3-5km per day and frequent bending and lifting (up to 20kg). Puppy Raisers expose our puppies to different environments including public transport, shopping centres etc.

Do you live close to Victoria Park or come past on the way to work? Do you have an adequately fenced and dog proof house? Do you have no more than one pet dog already? If you answer yes, then you could be a part of supporting those with vision loss or disability through being a part of the journey of a lifechanging Guide or Assistance Dog. Our Bed and Breakfast Boarders provide a foster home and care for our young dogs in their formal training stage during evenings and weekends.
