It is desirable that the successful applicant can commit to the role for a minimum of 12 months to maximize the benefits of experience and training in the role.

Volunteers at Women's Information Service (WIS) are highly valued and make a difference to the lives of many women in South Australia. This volunteer role involves providing information and referrals to women who visit the purposely established safety hub 'The Haven'. We provide a comprehensive training program, mentored shifts and ongoing support. WIS is a supportive team to all of our valuable volunteers.

As a volunteer you have the opportunity to make a difference by: - Short term help for the individual person or family could be in the form of food from our pantry and assistance with rent and bills. - Our members and volunteers delve deeper and build trusting relationships with the people we assist, uncovering the longer-term help that may be required. This is often done through actively listening, sharing stories and responding with assistance such as budget counselling.

This will assist Backpacks 4 VIC Kids staff to build relationships with schools and maximise the impact of the services B4VK can offer our community.
