This role involves unpacking and sorting donated clothing according to a set of guidelines, including sorting according to size and season. Packaging clothing and delivering items and packs to the Centre via a trolley from the Volunteer Office. Reviewing and maintaining stock levels, including assisting with targeted appeals for donations.

Mernda Repair Café is the first community Repair Program for the community of Whittlesea hosted at the Mernda Community House and outdoor community space. It is a free, inclusive and cross cultural community event that offers repairs of personal items by volunteer Repairers. Be an Eco Warrior and help the community to reduce waste going to landfill. To assist with the sharpening of tools that a community member has brought in and to share your knowledge of knife sharpening.

Your ability and willingness to help this community organisation maintain their halls and premises will be highly valued in this role. You'll undertake tasks such as minor repairs to interior and external fittings, painting, general maintenance (e.g. changing lightbulbs, hanging pictures), and sometimes assist with cleaning and gardening, as required. A current Working with Children Check is required.

A desire to work outdoors, and some gardening and grounds maintenance experience are needed for this role. You'll be physically active and able to assist this community organisation with maintenance of their lawns, yard and surrounds doing tasks such as mowing, mulching, trimming and general area clean-up. Aldinga Community Centre is a vibrant centre that offers a range of services, activities and programs for Aldinga and surrounding suburbs. The Centre is mainly staffed by volunteers and works towards building and strengthening the community. The Community Garden is maintained to ensure the garden is attractive, productive and yields produce for use in the Centre and local community.
