  3. Vinnies Helpline Volunteers

    The Emergency Relief Helpline is often the first point of contact for many of the people we serve. Staff and volunteers are available five days a week (Monday – Friday) to take calls from people in need within Canberra and Queanbeyan. Volunteers assist with recording details of requests onto the Helpline database for distribution to Conferences (home visitation volunteer groups) for actioning. They also assist with a variety of administration tasks to assist in meeting desired outcomes.

    Our Delivery Volunteers facilitate the supply of meals to Vinnies Special Works Homelessness Programs by transporting from the supply point to the distribution location/s. These meals provide basic support to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. At services such as Blue Door the meals also act as a “handshake” facilitating deeper engagement and a “hand up” to our service users. These roles are required for Mondays to Fridays, from 8.30 to 10.30am each day.
