About Gold Coast And Hinterland Historical Society
The museum has been dedicated to preserving and displaying historical items significant to the Gold Coast since its establishment in 1972.
The Gold Coast and Hinterland Historical Museum’s collection spans from the original Aboriginal inhabitants, through to the First White Settlements up until the 20th Century. In fact, our museum rests on what was once an Aboriginal gathering place and remains the site of a cemetery for local Early Settlers. The existing littoral rainforest trees inspired members of the Australian Plants Gold Coast to enhance the grounds by planting gardens and rebuilding the littoral vegetation.
