About this opportunity
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is an auspice of the Community Visitor Scheme (CVS), an initiative funded by the Australian Government. CVS Volunteers visit residents in Aged Care homes in NSW & VIC either one-to-one or as a group. In some areas, CVS volunteers may visit older people in their own home. We have TWO GENTLEMEN in the YARRAVILLE AREA one an AUSTRALIAN the other an ITALIAN who would enjoy receiving visits from MALE VOLUNTEER VISITORS. Volunteers provide companionship and friendship and reduce the effects of isolation. Volunteer visitors may share stories, go for a stroll, listen to music or play a game. As a CVS volunteer you play a vital role in improving the quality of life of the person through ongoing companionship.
Warmth, a caring attitude, empathy, good English communication skills however volunteers with other languages willing to be matched to same language (such as Italian speaking) are very welcome. Reliability and a willingness to commit to at least fortnightly visits for a minimum of 12 months is important.
THIS IS A VERY REWARDING ROLE!
