Help a young indigenous student get used to life in Sydney by helping them get from A-B!

Indigenous Australians Long Term Crows Nest, NSW

About this opportunity

John Moriarty Football is a soccer engagement program for 6-16 year old boys and girls using sport as a vehicle for positive change, to improve school attendance and achieve sustainable, healthier outcomes for families and communities.

John Moriarty Football helps young players from remote Northern Territory to come to Sydney with the life-changing opportunity to study and play football in Sydney.

The students will be traveling from their home in the remote Northern Territory to Sydney, where they will be attending school, football training and traveling to matches. Bright and eager to learn, our students are an absolute delight to be around and are sure to provide you with a rewarding volunteer opportunity.

We currently have various ways in which you can help including:
- Pick up students from the airport and be the first friendly face they see upon arrival in Sydney to then drop the student to their Sydney address (staying with host families)
- Help with the pick up/drop-off to school, football games and training throughout the students stay
- Finish their trip as you drive them to the airport to head home.

Locations include the Western suburbs, CBD and inner suburbs plus North Shore/Northern beaches.

A Working with Children Check will need to be in place and The Nangala Project can assist you in the organisation of this check if you do not already have one.

The Nangala Project is a non-profit initiative to relieve poverty and disadvantage amongst Australian Indigenous children and their families, through creating locally engaged sustainable opportunity.

Support will be provided to you via The Nangala Project Sydney Head Office throughout this volunteering experience. For more information on John Moriarty Football and The Nangala Project please visit our JMF website
