About this opportunity
A community based non-profit organisation, whose mission is to actively and directly relieve and empower disadvantaged migrants, is looking for Volunteer Employment Mentors.
The Organisation is delivering an employment training program for refugees, to assist them to successfully look for and find work in the Australian job market. The program aims to address the pervasive unemployment, low social participation and barriers to employment for newly arrived refugees in South Western Sydney.
They are seeking Volunteer Employment Mentors who are willing to engage with a refugee participant at least two times over a 1-3 month period and to support the participant to complete meaningful employment goals, either face to face or over Skype.
As a Mentor you would
1. Provide industry specific advice to the participant and assist them to gain a clear understanding of the industry/role in Australia.
2. Review and provide feedback on the participant’s resume.
3. Establish a relationship that provides positive, objective and fulfilling information and advice concerning meaningful employment and employment pathways.
Mentors from a variety of backgrounds are encouraged to take part including, but not limited to, those who are currently employed, retired from full time work, parents, and those who have great industry contacts.
They are seeking Volunteer Mentors who are able to commit to a minimum of two support sessions with each mentee. They would also be grateful for Mentors who are able to offer work experience opportunities to participants, although this is not a requirement of the mentoring arrangement.
If you are passionate about helping refugees settle in Australia, we would love to hear from you!
