About Alkira

Alkira provides a range of services for people with an intellectual disability. Volunteers are extremely important because without volunteers the people who use our services would be unable to participate in the community as fully as they want to. Volunteers assist in a wide variety of activities - music, gardening, swimming, dancing, art, craft and sightseeing are just a few of them. There are many others.

Some Volunteers provide one-on-one support for people with limited dexterity, low vision and reduced mobility while others assist staff to work with larger groups. We also have openings for Community Companions who, on a monthly basis, accompany individuals in our residential units to get out and about and pursue their personal interests.

All volunteers are given a thorough induction, and we work hard to make sure the times and jobs fit in with our volunteers` other commitments. Come and have a no-obligation chat over a coffee to find out whether volunteering at Alkira could be right for you.

MissionStatement:
Alkira is committed to provide services for adults with an intellectual disability, to assist them to attain a life which provides them with respect, choices, experiences, personal fulfillment and safety as afforded to all citizens in the community.
