Guide Dogs Tasmania Puppy Raisers - Hobart / Launceston
About this opportunity
Puppy Raisers are a critical part of our Guide Dog program. Without them, we won’t have any puppies to train, and consequently no Guide Dogs to work with Tasmanians who are blind or vision impaired. With new puppies arriving every few months, Guide Dogs Tasmania (GDT) desperately needs Puppy Raisers.
If you have some time and live within 30km of the Hobart or Launceston CBD, you could help make a difference, four little paw-steps at a time. Yes, you can already have pets. Yes, we cover expenses. Yes, there is lots and lots of support from GDT. Yes, it is fun!
"Puppy Raising is like hosting an exchange student, You know it is with you for a short time, but you love it and teach it and provide it with as many experiences as you can just the same. When you watch it leave, ready to lead, you know you have made a difference. And when you see it as a Guide Dog in the street later, you almost explode with pride." - Monica, Puppy Raiser.
