Volunteer- Residential Care

Seniors & Aged Care Regular - more than 6 months Farrer ACT

About this opportunity

Residential care volunteers work within the Residential facilities at Monash, Farrer or Ainslie. They assist our employees with tasks and activities with our elderly clients. These events are planned to increase community connecting and socially based to decrease the sense of social isolation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with seating, travelling and assisting with residents on Goodwin buses for outings
  • Assist with preparing and clearing away the morning and afternoon teas and lunch
  • Assist with activities i.e. reading, external visits, quiz, bingo, church-based events etc
  • Driving buses, where applicable and with appropriate licenses
  • Compliance with organisational policies and procedures, legislation, Work Health and Safety and diversity
  • Commitment to quality systems and continuous improvement.


Additional requirements

Driver's Licence (C) . National Police Certificate *. Working with Children Check *.

Work Health and Safety Requirements of the Role:
- Movement of people requiring special assistance
- Manual handling tasks – bending and twisting
- High level agility required to be able to exit and enter buses
- Food Hygiene and safety considerations

All volunteers are required to undertake and maintain a satisfactory National Criminal History Records Check (police check) for working with vulnerable people.
Attendance at corporate induction and associated volunteer training sessions is mandatory.
