  7. Grampians to Pyrenees Biolink Project

    In partnership with the Glenelg Hopkins Catchment Management Authority, we will be undertaking a number of planting projects in the region, with biodiverse native plant species. Outcomes of the project will include improvement of soil health and stabilisation, increased shelter for wildlife and on a larger scale will contribute to a necessary habitat linkage between the two significant reserves. Plantings will also naturally improve the native plant diversity in the region.

The site has previously been treated for weeds and is now needing some native grasses and shrubs to be planted.

    Monday 17th August to Friday 21st August: Contribute to coastal restoration activities at Point Danger by helping us plant a number of coastal shrub species. Improvements at this site in Portland have been ongoing, including management of pest plants and animals, surveying and revegetation.

    The Education Team plays an integral role in engaging and educating about the lives of the animals at the zoo. The team acts as ambassadors for the zoo and its conservation work. Volunteers assist with presentations, bookings and Zoo2Us; they also engage the public through guided tours and touch table interactions. They are required participate in training programs for our Education Animals and interact with these individuals on a daily basis to establish long-term bonds.
