About Act for Peace

Act for Peace believes in a world where every person is free from suffering caused by conflict and natural disasters. Across the world, we work with local communities so they can prepare for emergencies and respond fast to protect the most vulnerable people when disaster hits. We also lobby governments and decision-makers for positive action, which promotes peace and supports people affected by conflict and disaster.

Last year we raised over $11 million to assist communities in conflict and disaster affected countries including Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestine, Sudan, Somalia, India, Pakistan, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Kenya, Thailand, The Pacific and Burma; and this amount has been growing steadily each year.

Act for Peace is a member of the ACT Alliance, a global network of more than 140 organisations, all-working together for change. The ACT Alliance is one of the world's largest and most effective networks of grassroots aid organisations and workers. By working closely with ACT Alliance's local partners, Act for Peace is able to respond immediately to emergency situations, wherever and whenever they hit. What's more, we can support those communities most at risk from conflict and natural disasters, by helping them to prepare and adapt.

As the international aid agency of the National Council of Churches in Australia (‘NCCA’), a council of 19 member churches, we enable people to work together across religious boundaries both in Australia and overseas.
