About this opportunity

*** Shifts available: Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm (full and half days available), Saturday morning and afternoon shifts available.

Vinnies offers opportunities for anyone who wants to do something new that makes a difference to the lives of those who are doing to tough. Vinnies Retail volunteers sort, tag, price, display and sell donated clothing, household goods and accessories in our shops so that the funds we generate help us provide much needed services to people facing homelessness and poverty. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet and interact with others, gain additional work experience in retail, and improve English skills or to complete student volunteer programs. Centrelink volunteers are most welcome.

No experience is necessary and full training and on the job support is provided by Vinnies staff & volunteers.

Minimum age requirement for volunteers at this shop is 15 years.

A police check is required prior to commencement for all volunteers from the age of 18 years. The police check will be organised and paid for by Vinnies when the volunteer application form is received.

KEY DUTIES:

Greet and provide friendly service to our customers.

Assist in sorting and pricing merchandise, rotate stock on display, operate cash register, EFTPOS, display stock to attract sales and promote team spirit.

Attend the shop as per roster commitments and wear name badge provided by Vinnies.

Assist in maintaining the shop cleanliness & hygiene standards which may include – dusting, vacuuming, sweeping & mopping floors and washing up.

Complete and attend induction and other training as required.


Additional requirements

National Police Certificate *. Others .

Be able to show empathy & respect towards others

Be open minded and non-judgemental

Be able to relate to and accept people from various backgrounds including: religious, cultural, ethnic and socio-economic.

Be able to work as a team with other volunteers and staff and contribute to a team approach with a friendly and helpful disposition.

Be prepared to discuss issues and concerns as they arise in relation to volunteering

Be neat, clean and tidy in presentation

***Before Commencing Volunteering, a Volunteer National Police Check will be carried
out, which is fully paid for by the Organisation***
